My Little Corner Of The World...

Another beautiful Saturday... I want to thank everyone for the sweet comments to my last post. Yesterday was a busy day. My brother-in-law retired from the U.S. Marine Corps after 30 years of service... The ceremony was so touching; we are so proud of him and all the great sacrifices he and his family have made to serve our country. We love you Melvin, Thank You...

Well as promised, I finally have some pictures of my studio/crafty room! Let me tell you a little about this space: It took me a while to think of just what to do with it. It is a small space, so a lot of my punches, templates, paper, ribbon and the sort I keep in modules in the closet. Organization is the key in this space, and everything must have its place... I use clear containers so I can see just what I have. My motto is what you don't see you will not use...



Honey and I have about a thousand square feet of living space, and thought this little room would be best if it flowed with the rest of the house - cherry wood and roses. I was kind of disappointed because I did not have room for my many bears, but it is ok. I placed them on a giant floral wing back in my bedroom... I love it here... I waited a long time for my special place, and even though small it has a giant place in my heart...





I decided to place all my books in a cabinet in the living room. That worked well, and all neat and tidy! When you look at it, it looks like a beautiful cabinet, but when you open it, instant book shelf. You know what, it is a real challenge keeping a small space organized, and believe me I have gotten lots of tips on the program "Small Spaces". We love it here and would not be anywhere else. I call it my little corner of the world...

Rose Garden...

Not a long post today... Hubby took a few days off from work and now it is time to get back to my routine. We had a wonderful time, but it is never long enough... I wanted to share with you this absolutely beautiful little watering can I found at one of my favorite discount stores... The price was just right and it had roses on it! I do not know if you can tell in the photo, but it has a crackle look finish with script. I love it... I am going to put in my studio/crafty room right where I can see it...

Thanks for all the Birthday wishes... I have found some beautiful women with big hearts in blog land... Thanks so much. Enjoy the roses...

Coming up roses and sunflowers too...

Enjoyed my Birthday on yesterday! No big party, but lots of Happy Birthdays and hugs and kisses and some presents too! Honey took me shopping so that I could add some pretty little touches to my studio/crafty room. I will have some pics soon, but right now it is a little messy... Come to think of it, I have promise pics of my room before. Well they are on the way...

You all know I love roses, and I also love sunflowers... Honey gave me this bouquet for my Birthday... Flowers are so beautiful it is so hard to pick a favorite. Beautiful flowers are one of life's simple pleasures that can be enjoyed by all of us... I went over to visit Natalie at chickenblog , she found the most beautiful floral shams, and at a good price too... There is nothing like a bargain... At the checkout counter I find myself holding my little find and feeling as if I just found a small treasure... Right now I am on the look out for old floral vintage tins, they make beautiful candle holders. I simply take the tins fill them with beans, I think dark split peas look the best, add tea lites on top find a setting where they fit well and they look beautiful...

I did find a beautiful floral apron yesterday at a discount store. It is so hard for me to pass up anything with roses, and it fits me fine... Hope you like the cards... The roses are from an old book I had so I simply recycled them. By the way if you ever make your own cards Bazill makes the best card stock... I used brass embossing plates to emboss the corners on the large card. I even used the content page on the other card... Oh how I love to make cards...

All buttoned up...

Wow, where did the week go... It is already Thursday, but I must say I have had a full week thus far. Saturday is my Birthday! I am excited... Who said you can't be excited about turning older! I feel blessed to be here another year, and when I open my eyes each morning I declare how grateful I am for life...

My baby sister loves sewing and interior design. I designed this card for her. Even though we live just two hours apart and talk on the phone almost everyday, I still love to send her cards and she loves receiving them. I hope you love this one Donna...

Yesterday I decided to sort my buttons by color. I tell you I just know it will make life easier for me. All blues together, greens together... Now, I do not have to pour out hundreds of buttons on my table looking for that perfect little pink button... I love buttons, all colors shapes and sizes, especially the vintage ones... I have found that men's shirts have the nicest buttons, and my hubby knows those old shirts must come past me first...

I want to take a moment to thank my readers, although I do not have many as yet... I want you all to know I appreciate you taking time to visit. Thank you, thank you... I still consider myself a baby blogger and have much to learn, but I am very much enjoying myself...

Enjoying the process...

Hope you had wonderful weekend... Hubby and me spent lots of time on the web site. We are making progress... I promise myself to take it one step at a time, and before I know it I will be there... That is good advice and I must remind myself of it often. Last week was a busy one... My nephew's graduation was beautiful, and everyone loved the invitations...

I have been visiting new blogs lately. I am so excited about all the lovely women I have come across with big hearts and lots of talent, and I will adding more blogs shortly to my "lovely site list".

Today I will sketch out some new card Ideas I have... I have taken out tons of magazines for inspiration. Sometimes the magazine thing backfires, because I seem to have a million things dancing through my head. But I will make myself a cup of tea, take a deep breath and go for it...

I love beautiful pattern paper, ribbons and flowers. Hope you enjoy these two pieces...

Ink and butterflies...

Hope each of you had a wonderful weekend, as for mine it was quiet and relaxing. I wanted you to see a stamping project of mine. I do not stamp that often, but when I do I really enjoy it... Looking at just how beautiful it came out made me want to pull out my stamps and create something. Right now I just can't fit it in, but it will surely be on my to do list.

The technique I used on the tags and cards is called ink to paper, because you actually apply your pigment ink from ink pad to the paper for the background color. The butterfly card with the pretty shell buttons was then stamped using the background color, and stamped again with black ink using a post card stamp. Add a pretty sticker and mat it on a card and you got something very pretty...

I have been ask often just what language is that on the stamp I used for the rest of the cards. I have no idea, maybe some of you do. I just love the stamp... The ink on the tag is slightly different. Using paper towel I dab the ink and with firm circular motions apply it to the paper. I used several different colors. I place a butterfly sticker in the middle, mask it off and used my stamp... Add a ribbon and bead and lovely it is...

You know what... The teacher in me is coming out. I have taught family and friends some paper folding, card making, and I think it is starting to show!

Dreams really do come true if you only believe...

I could not wait a moment longer to post... My original intention was to post on Saturday morning, but I am bubbling over with joy thinking of my soon coming web site.... If you have read any of my earlier post you know I have been working on a line of cards with my original art work. I have been working on samples and packaging ideas in between my knitting and stitching. Well I designed a box today that will work perfectly. My first thought was to purchase boxes, but I could not find the right dimensions I needed. I love making boxes, but thought how would I keep up with card making and box making too. Well, for now I will make the boxes. I must admit I am very excited... A big change from a few months when I was feeling so doubtful.... I'm telling you the on-line crafting community is so very encouraging. Just seeing all the beautiful work and the positive feed back has been more than an inspiration to me, it has been a blessing... I am hoping my web site will be up shortly. In the mean time I will continue to make my samples, taking pictures and working on redecorating my studio. I want it to look nice when you all take a peek.... I hope you enjoyed the flowers, as you may well know I do love flowers especially roses, and you know what else...

Honey and Me...

Hoping each of you had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend... My hubby and I took a long drive up north to Beverly Hills on Sunday. It is a beautiful drive along the coast and the weather was perfect... I think the favorite part of it all are the many wonderful tasty treats and lovely side walk cafes along the way, and Sweet Jill's is one of those places and a usual stop for us. The place is filled with homemade desserts of every kind: pies, cobblers, hand dipped strawberries, delicious candy apples, and more! In Jill's calories don't count; it is all about getting your sweet on, and boy is it delicious!

Beverly Hills is a beautiful place with its gorgeous homes that leaves one in complete awe. The lawns are lush and manicured. The streets are lined with the most beautiful trees that seem to shade each mansion from the sun.

Now most of the shops are by appointment only, no browsing allowed, but there were plenty of window shoppers, and window shopping did we do!! So many oohs and ahhs... There was Gucci, Valentino, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Versace, and more... I love handbags, especially vintage purses and I have collected a few, but those bags were like wow! What must it feel like to carry a five thousand dollar hand bag...

I enjoyed myself so much, but I must say the real highlight of the trip was spending time with my husband, the fresh air, good conversation and a pair of sweet little ducks we spotted at a near by park, and of course Sweet Jill's...
